Jess Glynne To Headline Splendour Festival 2016!

 Splendour 2016 1st ANNC

Hot on the heels of her sold out UK headline tour promoting her sensational number one double platinum album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, Grammy award-winning pop sensation and 2016 Brit Award nominee Jess Glynne has announced that she will be headlining Nottingham’s biggest party of the summer, Splendour Festival at Wollaton Park on Saturday 23rd July 2016!

Fans who attended Splendour last year were sad to hear that the flame-haired British singer-songwriter had to cancel her appearance at the event in order to undergo vocal cord surgery, which is why we are so thrilled to have Jess return this year to dazzle Nottingham crowds like never before.

The singer, at just 26, has already equalled the record for the most number one singles by a British female solo artist — five —  and has now announced a brand new single from the album, ‘Ain’t Got Far To Go’, due for release on 26th February via Atlantic. With previous number one singles ‘Hold My Hand’ and its equally successful follow up ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’, along with the recent single ‘Take Me Home’ set to whip Wollaton Park into a frenzy, you can guarantee Jess Glynne will make Splendour Festival 2016 a truly unforgettable day.

There’s still a further incredible line-up of live music and laugh-out-loud comedy yet to be announced to join Jess Glynne, plus a whole host of brilliant bars, fantastic food stalls and a fun-filled kids entertainment area, so we think it’s safe to say that Splendour 2016 is certainly going to be the best yet!

Recognised as Nottingham’s biggest summer day out and shortlisted in the final three for Best Festival in the national Live Music Business awards, Nottingham City Council and Splendour are keen to replicate the success of last year which saw 20,000 turning out to see storming sets from headliners The Specials, James, Bananarama and Lawson. With lots happening all over the park aside from the three music stages, including comedy in the courtyard, a kids’ area and entertainers out and about in the crowd, the festival is a fantastic day out for all the family.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure at Nottingham City Council, said: “We at Nottingham City Council are proud to work in partnership with DHP to bring this great family festival to the city. A day out at Splendour Festival is good value for money, especially for those living in the city, and gives them a chance to see a diverse range of popular acts. I would like to thank Nottingham City Council’s events team who so work hard to provide the festival infrastructure and manage the event safely.”

Indiana Joins the Bill at Splendour

July 8th, 2015 at 1:00 pm

Splendour 2015_Indiana

Splendour Festival is less than 2 weeks away and we have some news to share with you all. Sadly Jess Glynne has confirmed that due to throat surgery she will be unable to perform at the 2015 Splendour Festival. We wish her all the best for a speedy recovery and she will be much missed at Splendour, however we are delighted to announce that Nottingham’s very own star Indiana will be stepping into the breach to entertain what is certain to be a huge crowd.

Already booked to play several major festivals this summer and on the back of her recent Glastonbury set, Indiana is sure to be warmly received by her hometown crowd at Splendour.

The 20,000 strong audience can expect to hear hits such as Solo Dancing, one of the singles from her top 20 critically acclaimed album, No Romeo. It’s full circle for the Long Eaton singer who first came to the public’s attention after she took part in Splendour’s Future Sound of Nottingham in 2012.

Splendour Festival organisers said: “Sadly Jess Glynne has confirmed that due to throat surgery she will be unable to perform at the 2015 Splendour Festival. We wish her all the best for a speedy recovery and she will be much missed at Splendour, however we are delighted to announce that Nottingham’s very own star Indiana will be stepping into the breach to entertain what is certain to be a huge crowd. We can’t wait to see her on the main stage where she truly belongs.”

Indiana is a fitting addition to this year’s Splendour line up – which has a notable history for showcasing the hottest local talent – following her major steps forward to national prominence with a huge show at Rock City earlier this year.
Full set times will be released next week with Indiana taking to the main stage before pop band Lawson, indie rockers James and two-tone legends The Specials who will bring the Festival to a close, while over on the Confetti Stage queens of pop Bananarama will be headlining.

Indiana said: “I played the Splendour main stage two years ago whilst I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter as my son watched from the crowd. My live shows have become bigger and better since then and I’m so excited to share that with Nottingham again on its biggest stage possible! Nothing better than a hometown crowd…and both of my children can watch this time!”

Splendour Supports Local Music in Future Sound of Nottingham Competition

April 13th, 2015 at 4:13 pm

FSN

We are giving you the chance to play live in front of a 20,000 strong crowd on the Splendour Festival main stage this July!

Organised by community project NUSICThe Future Sound of Nottingham (FSN) will give one lucky act the opportunity to perform the opening slot on the main stage at Splendour Festival on Saturday 18th July. Open to entrants now, the first round of the contest invites local bands and artists to send in tracks for judging by an expert panel, and you can enter today by clicking here.

Last year’s Splendour proudly boasted an impressive line-up of home-grown talent including Bramcote born artist Saint Raymond aka Callum Burrows. With a sell-out UK tour already under his belt, he was joined by 2014’s FSN winner, Joy Mumford, who has since been writing with respected artists such as Scorzayzee and indie pop band D.I.D, who we have had the pleasure of managing for several years now. We are delighted to reveal that Joy will also be making her second Splendour appearance on the Acoustic Rooms Stage this year for what will be the first time a FSN artist has been asked to return.

Mark Del, of NUSIC, says: “It’s a great buzz giving Nottingham musicians the chance to play the main stage at SplendourFuture Sound of Nottingham is all about giving local artists the opportunity to play big stages to huge audiences and showcasing their music to industry professionals – last year’s finalists Field Studies were signed to Denizen Management after Denizen boss, Spencer Wells, saw them play.”

Entries for the first round will close on Monday 20th April and finalists will be expected to battle it out on the main stage at DHP Family’s Rock City venue on Sunday 14th June where the public and an independent panel of judges will decide the winner.

DHP Family Chairman George Akins added: “Splendour is a great showcase for local artists so it’s a real opportunity for a new star to emerge from this year’s Future Sound of NottinghamJake Buggoriginally played Splendour’s small courtyard stage but went on to be the main stage headliner a couple of years later, touring the world and selling albums by the million. Amber Run and Joy Mumford are playing this year while IndianaSaint Raymond and D.I.D (Dog is Dead) have all played Splendour in recent years and gone on to greater success.”

Splendour 2015 will be headlined by two-tone legends The Specials who will be joined on the bill by James, Jess Glynne, Lawson, Roots Manuva, Amber Run, To Kill A King and the day will be opened by the winner of the Future Sound of Nottingham. Meanwhile, over on theConfetti Stage there will be performances by Bananarama, The Twang, Ferocious Dog, Iris Gold, Keto, The Swiines and Georgie while Joy Mumford, Eyre Llew, Hhymn, Jamie Lawson, Molly and Jack, RJMARKS, Daudi Matsiko and Cedric Peters make up the offer for theAcoustic Rooms Stage.

Cheeky-chappie Brummie Andy Robinson will be hosting some great acts throughout the day on the Funhouse Comedy Stage while there is plenty of entertainment for children including fairground rides, and a free kids area hosted by Big Top Mania, featuring circus skills workshops and shows, crazy inflatable’s, giant bubbles and Big Bear’s Big Balloon Disco.
