Hailing from Nottingham, BEKA was raised on the likes of ‘Quincy Jones’ ‘Back on the Block’ album, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan and discovered her love of pop when Spice girls entered the scene. Inspired by music that’s both thought-provoking and soulful, her inquisitive nature fuels a great deal of the emotional energy that oozes through her debut single “I’ll Be There” – which was chosen as the BBC Introducing Track of the Week on Radio 1 in February 2021.
After sharing her first solo material last October with the glorious title track “I’ll Be There”, BEKA has made a huge impact with her touching style of hope-filled pop music and has already amassed over 1.3 million monthly Spotify listeners. Her compassionate sound is enriched with love and happiness and her lyricism is incredibly relatable, with the ‘I’ll Be There EP’ exploring the complex realities of everyday life but also the joyful moments too. It’s an emphatic mix of feel-good pop music with hints of neo-soul and R&B that effortlessly showcase her real star quality.
