Venbee is a rising 22 year old artist and songwriter who’s having a breakout moment out with her drum & bass tinged songs. Unapologetically herself, you just can’t help but like Venbee. Hailing from Kent, she’s a Chatham girl through and through, and as far from pretentious as you can get: her Instagram is all bucket hats, oversized tracksuits and toilet selfies… a refreshing breath of fresh air in the highly curated social world.
Venbee dropped her new track “Messy In Heaven” recently, a collaboration with drum & bass producer Goddard, where she reimagines the son of god in a modern club predicament… In reality an allegory about that mate of yours who always puts others before themselves. Despite the cheeky blasphemous nature of the song, and peaked top 10 in the UK chart!
Venbee’s quick ascent to viraldom started with her debut track “Low Down“ (with Dan Fable) released earlier this year. A dark pop song tackling the subject of depression, backed by stripped- back liquid drum & bass. It topped Spotify’s Viral chart, Radio 1 made the song its Introducing: Track of The Week, and spent 6 weeks in the UK chart (peaking at #59) while at the time of writing it has racked up more than 19 million Spotify streams.
For Venbee it’s much more than fleeting viral moments. She has started to take her songs out live with recent performances at All Points East Festival, Spotify’s Altar at Printworks and Neighbourhood festival, Manchester. She’s in it for the long run so is currently busy in the studio writing and recording new music with host of producers (such as Rudimental, Johnny Coffer and Two Inch Punch) who are all instantly taken in by her exuberant energy and drive…and on the basis her first two songs, her future success seems more than assured!
