Nusic’s annual showcase of Nottingham’s greatest talent, Future Sound of Nottingham, returned to Rock City once again 7th May. Unsigned local talent not only got the opportunity to play in front of music industry names, but the winners of the night, Brotherhood, battled their way through to earn their place on the coveted opening slot of our #SplendourFest main stage!
Six acts from a variety of genres took to the stage, each winning over the crowd with their impeccable talents, First up were Indie upstarts One Giant Causeway, whos jangly guitar-pop tunes kicked off the night in perfect fashion and really got the crowd going. Then came Kelsey Shaw, whose delicate folk-pop sound made the room stand still with her impressive vocal range. Next up were Brotherhood, who crafted a set of classic guitar pop songs as infectious as they were uplifting, followed by Hashtagobi, who performed 3 alt hip-hop tunes lifted from his recent concept album all about being a university student. Then came glam rock Gods The Dandylions, dressed in eye-catching yellow and pink attire, their wrestling-masked frontman’s vocals were impressive by anyone’s standards, leaving the audience astounded by the end of their three song set. Last but not least came Roe Green, who played a mix of keyboard and guitar to support his heartfelt radio-friendly ballads. .
The audience were treated to a set by last year’s winners Super Furniture, whilst the judges picked a winner and after much deliberation by the judges,Brotherhood were crowned winners of the night. Brothers Ant and Matt are sure to be a great addition to the Splendour line-up.

From playing Rock City’s main stage, a gig many have called ‘the best night of their life’, to getting their music in front of industry people who can help them make a living doing what they love.”
Splendour organiser, Anton Lockwood added: “For the last nine years FSN has supported Nottinghamshire’s best talent, and once again DHP Family is delighted to be working alongside NUSIC.
