Fringe Artists Revealed!

It’s that time of year again. The takeover of Batman’s back garden has begun and it wouldn’t be the party of the summer without our fantastic fringe stage! With a range of exciting entertainment to enjoy, be sure to wander over to the top of the hill where you can kick back and chill or jump up and get involved. From yoga and salsa classes to poetry readings and acoustic sets, trust us when we say that you’ll find something new on the fringe stage!

Yoga and Mindfulness
Start your day the right way with a refreshing outdoor Yoga and Mindfulness session led by a senior Dru yoga tutor. Sometimes you just need to take a minute to get in tune with your mind and body before your action-packed day gets underway. Monica will take you through some basic yoga and will be giving key pointers on health and wellbeing, so you can take some tips home with you. Bring your friends, bring the kids and have a moment of zen before partying the day away! Namaste.

Salsa with Salsa Bae
We hope you brought your dancing shoes because you’re going to need them for Salsa Bae’s groovy 30-minute dance class. Improve your self-esteem, psychological wellbeing and social skills as you let everything go and just have a good time dancing to some cracking tunes without a care in the world. For a little extra competition, there will also be a prize at the end for the best Salsa Bae, so you better get practising!

Rhymes Against Humanity

Meet Rhymes Against Humanity, the extravagant and excitable East Midlands outfit who will create brand new musicals on the spot based on YOUR suggestions! No scripts, no pre-prepared tunes. Just a non-stop joyride of musical hilarity. This is improvised music at its absolute finest and we can guarantee you’ll leave here with a HUGE smile on your face!

Spoken Word with Stephen & Friends
One of Nottingham’s longest- running, city centre spoken word events, bringing some of the biggest names in UK spoken word right into the heart of Nottingham. Following the success of last year’s set, poet and rapper Stephen Thomas will be back for another charming performance and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store.

The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican
Welcome to the brotherhood of The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican. Put on your finest knitted glad rags, style your barnet, put on your dancing shoes and bring your finest singing voices, as we cordially invite you to witness the UK’s hardest-working comedy band in action! With a catalogue of musical accomplishments behind them and over 940 shows to date, their own carefully crafted comedic lyrics are quick witted, imaginative and a guaranteed Splendour crowd pleaser.

Mrs Mabel Green
Mabel Green is a forgotten singer-songwriter from the golden era of soul and Motown, now residing in a council flat in Basford, Nottingham. An agony aunt for her local community, Mabel Green’s life story was turned into a show by the BAFTA award-winning Television Workshop Nottingham alumnus, Sheep Soup Productions, and enjoyed sell-out runs across the country. Expect cheekiness, charm and a whole lotta soul from the legend that is Mrs Mabel Green.
