Jess Glynne To Headline Splendour Festival 2016!

 Splendour 2016 1st ANNC

Hot on the heels of her sold out UK headline tour promoting her sensational number one double platinum album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, Grammy award-winning pop sensation and 2016 Brit Award nominee Jess Glynne has announced that she will be headlining Nottingham’s biggest party of the summer, Splendour Festival at Wollaton Park on Saturday 23rd July 2016!

Fans who attended Splendour last year were sad to hear that the flame-haired British singer-songwriter had to cancel her appearance at the event in order to undergo vocal cord surgery, which is why we are so thrilled to have Jess return this year to dazzle Nottingham crowds like never before.

The singer, at just 26, has already equalled the record for the most number one singles by a British female solo artist — five —  and has now announced a brand new single from the album, ‘Ain’t Got Far To Go’, due for release on 26th February via Atlantic. With previous number one singles ‘Hold My Hand’ and its equally successful follow up ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’, along with the recent single ‘Take Me Home’ set to whip Wollaton Park into a frenzy, you can guarantee Jess Glynne will make Splendour Festival 2016 a truly unforgettable day.

There’s still a further incredible line-up of live music and laugh-out-loud comedy yet to be announced to join Jess Glynne, plus a whole host of brilliant bars, fantastic food stalls and a fun-filled kids entertainment area, so we think it’s safe to say that Splendour 2016 is certainly going to be the best yet!

Recognised as Nottingham’s biggest summer day out and shortlisted in the final three for Best Festival in the national Live Music Business awards, Nottingham City Council and Splendour are keen to replicate the success of last year which saw 20,000 turning out to see storming sets from headliners The Specials, James, Bananarama and Lawson. With lots happening all over the park aside from the three music stages, including comedy in the courtyard, a kids’ area and entertainers out and about in the crowd, the festival is a fantastic day out for all the family.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure at Nottingham City Council, said: “We at Nottingham City Council are proud to work in partnership with DHP to bring this great family festival to the city. A day out at Splendour Festival is good value for money, especially for those living in the city, and gives them a chance to see a diverse range of popular acts. I would like to thank Nottingham City Council’s events team who so work hard to provide the festival infrastructure and manage the event safely.”
